Why is this here?

Well it was a Friday afternoon at 3:00. I was in Glendale and I needed to get to Santa Monica. First, I ruled out taking the 5 to the 110 to the 10, then I ruled out taking the 134 to the 101 to the 405 to the 10. If you've ever tried to get anywhere on a freeway on a Friday afternoon in Los Angeles (or anywhere else in California) then you'll understand why. So I decided to take the streets. I took Flower St. to Sonora Ave. to Riverside Dr. to Griffith Park Dr. to Forest Lawn Dr. to Barham Blvd. to Cahuenga Blvd. to Ventura Blvd. to Coldwater Canyon to Sunset Blvd. to Barrington Ave. to Montana Ave. to 26th Street in Santa Monica. It took just about an hour and in that time I witnessed some of the worst driving you can imagine. Unfortunately, since I do quite a bit of driving every day, it almost seemed typical. But while I was in the midst of my journey, it occurred to me that if more people drove with the "intention of kindness" there would be far less anger, frustration and acrimony. And maybe fewer accidents too. So this is my attempt at creating a change in attitude. I realize I'm probably preaching to the converted, and this is as much a reminder to myself as anyone else. But, feel free to join in my campaign of kindness out there on the streets.
